About Coach Alan Horton
Alan Horton, a native to East Tennessee, grew up in Maryville and participated in many sports before turning his competitive passions into running. In college, Alan walked-on before receiving a scholarship to run cross country and track & field at Eastern Kentucky University. After college, Alan hit a running plateau and decided to give triathlon a "tri". He found that triathlon actually helped him refocus on running. Alan pursed and accomplished his goal of qualifying for the 2008 USA Olympic Marathon Trials.
In 2009, Alan took some time away from the sport to start a family and pursue career goals. Throughout the last several years, Alan has found a balance with family, career and triathlon. Alan competed in the Ironman World Championships in 2016, The Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2017, and will compete for the United States in the 2018 ITU Age Group World Championships. Alan is part of the Every Man Jack Triathlon team, has been an active member or the Runners Market Racing Team since 2003, and was a part of the Health Shoppe Zen Evo Triathlon team from 2013-2017.Contact Alan Horton
